Mark Zielinski started Blue Oak Moving in 2011 with one borrowed truck and a lot of stubbornness. He grew up off Ryan Road in Sterling Heights, one of four kids in a Polish-American family that spent most weekends at his grandfather’s property out in Washington Township. There was an old oak tree on that land with a bluish cast to its bark, and it became the spot where the whole family gathered — which is where the name comes from.

Before he ever ran a moving company, Mark spent nine years on the floor of an auto-parts distribution warehouse off Mound Road, then picked up part-time shifts driving for a regional van line’s local crew. When the 2009 downturn cost him a third of his warehouse hours, he didn’t wait around. He put his last unemployment check toward a down payment, took out a co-signed loan for a 16-foot box truck, and started Blue Oak with one crew member and a handshake referral deal with two local realtors.

Fifteen years later, that single truck has grown into a company of fourteen people, including eight movers running local and long-distance jobs across Macomb County and beyond. Mark still writes estimates himself on the bigger local jobs, and he rides along on every new long-distance route before it becomes routine for the crew.

Diane Bauer has run the office since 2015. If you call about scheduling, she’s usually the first voice you’ll hear — she keeps the calendar straight for both the Sterling Heights and Warren crews and has a good memory for which streets need a smaller truck.

Sam Haddad joined as lead estimator in 2018 and handles most of the in-home and video walkthroughs. He grew up in Sterling Heights’ Chaldean community and speaks both English and Chaldean Neo-Aramaic, which comes in handy quoting multi-generational households where grandparents, parents, and kids are all moving under one roof.

Angela Marchetti has managed billing and insurance since 2020. She processes certificates of insurance for condo and apartment buildings all over Macomb County — often the least exciting part of a move, but the part that keeps a building manager from holding up an elevator reservation — and handles claims paperwork if something ever needs to be filed.

Sean Malloy has run the local Sterling Heights and Warren crew since 2017. He’s the one who plans load-outs for the split-level and ranch layouts that make up so much of Macomb County’s housing stock, working out stair angles and doorway widths before the truck ever backs into the driveway.

Marcus Webb leads the long-distance crew, which he’s done since 2021 after ten years driving CDL for a regional freight carrier. He’s the one behind the wheel — or riding shotgun — on Chicago, Columbus, and Pittsburgh runs, keeping the same crew with your things from Sterling Heights to the delivery address.

All six of them, plus the rest of the crew, are background-checked employees — not subcontractors — which is part of why so many of our moving jobs come from repeat customers and referrals rather than one-time searches.

Our Services

A single-room job in Center Line and a full house bound for Chicago pull from the same nine services and the same crew list — whichever one you need, the work never gets passed off to someone else's truck.

Our Range Of Services Includes

Local Sterling Heights Moves

Ranch houses off Utica Road, split-levels near Dodge Park, third-floor walk-ups by Metro Parkway — our crew has moved through every layout Sterling Heights and Warren throw at us, usually wrapped up in a single afternoon.

Long-Distance Moves from Sterling Heights

When an engineer gets transferred from a Sterling Heights plant to Indianapolis or Cincinnati, the move can't wait on the job getting handed off to a subcontractor — we load it, drive it, and unload it ourselves.

Learn More →

Macomb County Home Moves

We move Macomb County families the same way whether it's a starter ranch in Center Line or a five-bedroom near Dodge Park — full crew, full truck, one flat price agreed on before moving day.

Learn More →

Sterling Heights Apartment & Condo Moves

Third-floor walk-ups near Van Dyke and tight condo elevators in the newer Sterling Heights complexes call for a different plan than a house move, so we send crews used to hallway turns and building-office paperwork.

Full-Service Packing for Macomb County Homes

Give us a day and we'll pack the whole house — kitchens, garages, the attic boxes nobody's opened since the last move — using padded wrap and dish-pack cartons built for Michigan roads, not just the driveway.

Learn More →

Winter-Ready Short-Term Storage

Closing dates slip and Michigan winters don't care — when a deal falls through in December, we hold your load in a heated space until the new house is ready instead of a driveway pod that freezes shut.

Piano Moving Across Macomb County

Uprights, baby grands, whatever's sitting in a Sterling Heights living room — our crew straps it, ramps it, and gets it down the stairs without gouging the hardwood or the piano.

Loading & Unloading Help in Sterling Heights

Rented a truck from the lot on Van Dyke Avenue and don't want to blow a disc lifting a couch alone? Two of our guys will show up, load or unload it, and let you handle the driving.

Senior & Downsizing Moves in Macomb County

Downsizing out of a longtime Macomb County home into a smaller place or a senior community takes patience, not just muscle — we work at your pace, label everything, and set up the new place room by room.

The Shape Of A Move

How Your Move Goes

Every Sterling Heights job runs through the same four stages; here is what happens at each one.

1

Sam Sizes Up The Job

Usually over the phone or a quick video — stairs, a walk-up, a basement full of storage, whatever is actually in the house — before he settles on a number.

2

Angela Handles The Paperwork

Valuation coverage, a certificate of insurance if a building office needs one, and the confirmed price are all squared away before a crew is dispatched, not chased down afterward.

3

Sean Or Marcus Leads The Crew

Whoever is assigned, every piece gets wrapped before it clears a doorway, and the tight split-level stairs common around here get planned out rather than muscled through.

4

We Set Up, Not Just Drop Off

Beds go back together, each box lands in the room it is labeled for, and the crew hauls off the used wrap and empty cartons before they leave.

Why Sterling Heights Keeps Booking Us

Ask For Sean Or Marcus By Name

Sterling Heights and Warren jobs go to Sean, who has run our local crew since 2017. Anything leaving the state goes to Marcus, who has handled every long-distance load since 2021. Neither one hands your move to whoever happens to be free that week.

Macomb County Winters Don't Slow Us Down

Iced-over basement stairs, a closing pushed back a week because of a lake-effect squall, a piano wedged into a split-level stairwell — our crew treats these as a normal Tuesday, not a reason to reschedule. The plan already assumes a snow day is coming, so when one hits, the move still happens on time.

No Handoffs, Ever

The two guys carrying boxes out of your Sterling Heights place are the same two carrying them into the new one, even on a run to Pittsburgh or Chicago. Marcus rides the whole route himself instead of passing your things to a driver he's never met.

What Our Clients Say

★★★★★

“Paid for the full pack because a two-week closing deadline had me overwhelmed. Two movers packed our entire St. Clair Shores house — kitchen, garage, attic boxes we'd forgotten we had — in one long day, and everything arrived without so much as a chipped plate.”

Denise FalkSt. Clair Shores · Google
★★★★★

“Our closing got pushed back three weeks in the dead of winter, and instead of renting a pod that would've frozen shut in the driveway, Blue Oak held our furniture in a heated space until the new house finally closed.”

Nathan PriceClinton Township · Yelp
★★★★★

“Grew up playing that piano and didn't trust just anyone with it — the crew strapped it, ramped it down our front steps in Sterling Heights, and didn't put a mark on it.”

The Questions We Hear Most

The things Blue Oak Moving ends up explaining on nearly every call out of Sterling Heights, MI.

Is Blue Oak Moving a franchise?

No. We're an independently owned local moving company, founded in Sterling Heights in 2011 and still run by our original owner, Mark Zielinski.

Do you subcontract any of your moving jobs to other companies?

Never. Every mover on our trucks is a background-checked Blue Oak employee, not a subcontractor or day-labor hire.

How long has Blue Oak Moving been in business?

Since 2011, when Mark Zielinski started the company with one box truck and one crew member.

Can I meet my crew or estimator before move day?

Yes. Sam Haddad handles most in-home and video walkthroughs, and you're welcome to ask which crew chief is assigned to your job.
